How to use Accents to Add Character to a Room

Are you looking to add character to a room in your home and unsure where to start? Using accents within a room can be a great way to add character, but you want to be sure you don't overdo it. Let's take a look at some simple ideas to add wonderful unique character.

1. Frame the Views

One of the best things you can do when looking to add character is to frame your windows! You can get creative with this and even add a patterned or textured curtain to the room. One tip I have when doing curtains is to hang the draperies higher than the windows to make the ceilings seem higher.

2. Add a Pop of Color!

Another great way to add character with accents is by adding a pop of color to your furniture. Often times people like to go with neutral furniture, but adding one colorful chair can really change the feel of your space. Even if it's just one chair, maybe next time you're looking at new furniture, try and step out of your comfort zone. If you are looking for help putting together a shopping list to revamp a space in your home, I offer a service called "Shop with a little help" where we shop at your favorite retail stores, such as Pottery Barn, Target, West Elm, etc., all for a flat fee of $650.00.

3. Incorporate Natural Elements

Incorporating natural elements into a space, whether it's a bathroom, bedroom, living room, or kitchen, can be a great way to add character. Natural elements are a design trend this year; here are some popular natural elements people have been turning to for character!

- Natural textures in the room

- Natural lighting

- Neutral accent walls

- Earthy furniture

- Fresh flowers/plants

Whether you want to add a few accents, revamp a space in your home, or are unsure where to begin, I'm here to help.
